What if Evel Knievel had run for president?
It’s a topic I explore in my new thriller ALL THE DEMONS ARE HERE and also one I discussed with the great critic Sonny Bunch on his podcast. “An absurd showman? President? Can't see it happening here,” Sonny joked on twitter.
I’m not the first one to ponder such a development. David Letterman made it the topic of one of his Top Ten lists in 1991:

Maybe you need an Evel poster for your collection. I’m running with the assumption that he loses in the book. Otherwise we end up in a For All Mankind alternate reality. Tear the fabric of the space time continuum, Back To The Future style.
